On the other blog http://johnbarclayphotography.pixyblog.com (I’m trying two and getting feedback so feel free to give feedback, it’s appreciated!) I’ve posted a couple of “overprocessed HDR” images.  I figured I’d better post one here.  Not sure the composition works well on this one.. the balance feels off a bit but then again the design of this building is a bit off! Last weekend I had a chance to go to a seminar put on by National Geographic. Â The presenters were Eddie Soloway and Michael Melford. Â Michael had a spread about Death Valley in a recent issue of National Geographic and he showed us images from his month there. Â UnREAL. Â I’ll be in Death Valley in a couple of weeks teaching a workshop and I can’t wait to return!Â
Â
Â
I’m working with another blog provider who is developing a product and I am a beta user. Â I will keep both this blog and the other for the time being. Â I’d be interested in hearing from you with your thoughts about either blog…
Thanks in advance for your feedback!Â

In hearing about all the snow out in California, it made me think of my trip to Mono Lake two years ago with snow capped mountains in the scene. Â I loved shooting there with the still water and wonderful reflections. Â It was 9 degrees but I could have stayed all day I was so excited!Â
Â
Black and White photography in the Dunes is wonderful. Â I’m looking forward to being with the group in a month!Â
Â
Â
I was doing some prep work for the upcoming Death Valley tour that Dan Sniffin and I will be conducting in early Feb so I though I’d post a favorite from last year before I fell and broke my leg… Â This is a vertical XPan image. Â It is NOT cropped, it is as shot on film.
Â
I felt like flowers today…  I think nature photographers will always be drawn to the beauty of flowers.  To me it is amazing to see the artistry of the master in these wonderful specimens.
